About this story
There is a tree on Dogavios so tall that nobody has ever seen the top of it.
They call it the Universal Tree. Its roots hold the whole planet together, its branches disappear into the clouds, and at its feet there is a spring of water that is said to be magic.
Fofuxo takes Pigúiça there. He cannot tell her why. He just looks at the water, then at her, and waits.
She drinks.
And the world changes. The barks around her stop being noise and turn into words. For the first time since she arrived, Pigúiça hears her friend say her name.
This is the chapter where Pigúiça stops being a visitor on Dogavios and starts belonging to it.
