It is a common question among snow dog lovers: husky vs malamute? From a distance they look like identical cousins, with that noble face and thick coat, but the differences are big and genuinely helpful when choosing the right companion for your routine.
Size and build
The most visible difference of all is size. The Alaskan malamute is bigger and heavier, with a sturdy frame and strong bone, while the Siberian husky is lighter, nimbler and more compact. What they were bred for
Their origins explain a lot about each breed. The husky was bred for speed and distance, pulling light loads quickly and with endurance across the snow.
