Good children's books are expensive, and kids devour one after another. The way out many families don't know yet: Kindle Unlimited, Amazon's service where thousands of books, including many for children, are included in the subscription, usually with a free trial period. It's Netflix for books.
You don't need a Kindle
The biggest myth. The free Kindle app turns any phone or tablet into a reader: install, sign in with your Amazon account, done. For illustrated children's books, a tablet's color screen is actually better than e-ink.
How it works in practice
- Start the Kindle Unlimited trial on Amazon (cancel anytime).
- Look for the «kindleunlimited» badge: those books cost nothing extra.
- Borrow up to 20 titles at a time, read offline, return and grab more.
An adventure book to start with
To enchant kids aged 3 to 8, start with Dogavios: the adventure of Pigúiça the husky in the Magic Garden, about friendship, courage and dreams, free on Kindle Unlimited. Illustrated, bilingual, and the perfect bedtime story.
And the universe continues beyond the book, all free
Dogavios became a whole free world: the running game, the 22 songs on Spotify and YouTube, the cartoons and the brand-new online painting game where kids paint the characters right on the phone. Reading leads to play, play leads back to reading: that's how children become readers. 🐾
