Hard truth about school mornings: tomorrow's wake-up is decided tonight. A child woken at 6:50 after falling asleep at 11 pm will cry, and the alarm clock is not to blame. Fix the night and the morning almost fixes itself.

The night before (the real game)

  • Fixed bedtime, calculated backwards: a 6-year-old needs 10 to 11 hours. Waking at 6:45 means lights out between 7:45 and 8:45 pm. No Tuesday exceptions.
  • Screens out of the bedroom one hour before: blue light delays sleep and steals exactly the hour missing in the morning.
  • Everything ready by the door: backpack, clothes and shoes picked at night. Every decision removed from the morning buys 5 minutes of peace.
  • Closing ritual: warm bath, story, dim light. The body learns the sequence and powers down on its own.

The morning (the light method)

  • 10 minutes early, open the curtains: natural light switches melatonin off far more gently than any sound. Let brightness wake them before you do.
  • Touch and voice, not shouting: hand on the shoulder, their name, one good sentence («art class today!»).
  • A wake-up song: the same one every morning. It becomes a good-mood trigger, and the Dogavios songs have plenty of upbeat tracks for the job.
  • Protein at breakfast: eggs, cheese or yogurt hold energy until recess. Carbs alone crash mid-class.

The mistake that sabotages everything

Sleeping late on weekends to «catch up». A two-hour gap between Saturday and Monday is a weekly mini jet lag: Monday becomes a time zone. The healthy margin is one hour at most. And remember: a good morning is the prize for a good night, so the day's battery always charges the evening before. 🐾
